As a former American Football player, with experience in Collegiate D1AA in the US, LondonBlitz, NFL Europe and representing Great Britain, Duncan has been a fitness enthusiast his whole life. Following his degree in Sports Science Biomechanics and Physiology, Duncan turned to Personal Training, where he successfully built a great business. He was head hunted to set up a new gym adventure for the Soho House group, Shoreditch House.

Duncan was introduced to Crossfit back in 2010 while he was playing American Football in the US. He couldn’t believe the competitive nature and mental and physical challenge that each workout produced. After about 3 weeks he was hooked and decided that he wanted to expose it to as many people as possible. After finishing his Football contract and crossfit coaching out in the states, he moved back to the UK.

It was time to create his dream, his own BOX… welcome to Crossfit Solent. His focus on fitness being FUN at all levels has produced a great gym and a great community at Crossfit Solent.

Alex’s passion for fitness started in the pool at the age of 7 through competitive swimming and continued on the rugby pitch throughout his teenage years. Having competed at regional level in both swimming and rugby, Alex was keen to continue the competitive drive that sport gave him.

Alex started CrossFit in 2016 after coaching strength and conditioning style workouts for his local rugby team across multiple age groups.

Simone Holley

Simone started CrossFit at the age of 41, with no real sporting background other than some regular running and standard gym experience. After a very bad break to her ankle she had to give up running, which turned out to be a good thing as this is how she ended up at CrossFit! She very quickly became hooked and has enjoyed competing in the last few years.

Simone’s other job is as a Research Psychologist and has worked with adults, teenagers, and children with mental health difficulties, asthma, and other health problems. Coaching seemed the obvious next step to combine her desire to help others and her enjoyment of CrossFit. She joined the coaching team in April 2019 and hopes to inspire more women to get strong!

Olly’s fitness journey started age 7 with competitive swimming. He continued to swim at regional and national events through to finishing university. He still competes in swimming, focusing on open water events. He also coaches and teaches swimming at all levels, working with all abilities, from beginners to national champions and international level triathletes. He has dabbled in distance trail running and triathlon.

He was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 whilst at university. His friends recommended he checked out CrossFit.com, which he followed for a year. He heard about CrossFit Solent early on, joined as a member and hasn’t looked back since. He started helping out coaching in 2013 after getting his L1 and hopes to continue contributing to the awesome Solent community, helping the members however he can.

I took part in hundreds of competitions and championships. In mid 90’s for 3 years I was a member of Polish Olympic Weightlifting Juniors Representation. In 1996, when I was 15 years old, I won my first silver medal in Youth Polish Championships. In 2016, after 16 years break in training, I decided to try Crossfit to get fitter and stronger. I realised that I still can achieve something in sport; weightlifting particularly.

In 2016 I took part in Southern Master Championships and won another trophy to my medals collection of 3 silver medals; another (but first British) silver medal. Then I decided to share my knowledge and experience with other weightlifters to help them to achieve their goals and I completed Level 1and then Level 2 British Weightlifting Coach course.

In 2017 in British Master Championships, I won another medal; this time it was a bronze. At the end of 2017 I have established Fareham Barbell Club and concentrated on training others. This brings me a lot of satisfaction especially when club members achieve great results at national and international championships.

After his internship, Dave joined the coaching team here at Crossfit Solent in April of 2018. Coming from the local competitive rowing scene he brings with him an in-depth knowledge of rowing technique, along with a constant strive for perfection. Prior to transitioning to coaching, Dave realised that he has a great desire to make other people better and, with a lot of study, is currently undertaking a career change from the corporate world to becoming a health and fitness professional.

Dave is a great believer of constant character improvement, and outside of the gym environment can usually be found in a book or scratching his head over a sudoku!!

I started coaching and setting up Solent kids at CrossFit Solent in 2018. This has been a successful venture where we have created a friendly community for our youth and their families by the means of fitness. We have organised multiple competitions and workouts for our youth and their families to take part in and enjoy over the years. We have a great team of coaches who have been involved in developing Solent youth over the years and we are all very passionate to promote wellbeing of children by pairing fitness together with fun.

I have been passionate about improving children’s quality of life by introducing fitness and as a team we are hoping to continue to achieve this and expand CF Solent Youth across to our local community.
