Group CrossFit Classes

Once you have completed either 1-2-1 Elements OR the 8 session Introduction and Elements Course you can attend the Group Classes. Training in a small group offers many benefits. Due to the class structure there is plenty of time to work on skills and technique, fine tune your movements to be more efficient, learn additional skills or even go for that Personal Best and get your name on the records board.

Group training is also great for motivation, by its very nature people push harder than training alone, allowing you to get the most out of your training.

A typical class will take the following structure:

  • Warm up
  • Mobility
  • Focus for the Day Strength or Skill
  • Run through of movements and standards used in the Workout of the Day (WOD) as well as scaling options
  • The WOD
  • 4TH Quarter – Cool down & stretching

Don’t forget CrossFit is an all inclusive programme and the WOD can be scaled to your ability/ skill level, so you still get a great workout!

The WOD is published daily on the Crossfit Solent website for the following day.

At CrossFit Solent we actively encourage community. Solent is a great place to meet new friends, all sharing in the same goals, to get fitter, to be better. We really want to see CrossFit Solent grow as a community in and outside of the gym so please feel free to stay around after the class, have a coffee, chat about your experiences, share tips  or ask any question. Remember we may have built this gym, but we did it for you – CrossFit Solent is your gym.

Olympics Lifting Classes

Solent Barbell is Olympic Weightlifting at Crossfit Solent. At Solent Barbell we focus on the single lifts of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk and their derivatives to help you become more technically proficient in them.

Olympic lifting is for everyone, any age and any gender, no matter wether you have done it before or not. What we pride ourselves on is making it accessible and enjoyable for every ability. We can set parameters for you to train in as well as give you the goals and the tools needed to grow in the sport.
We may be in a Crossfit Box and the majority of our lifters taking part in both sports, but we teach weightlifting for weightlifting. The way in which you move during the Snatch and C&J in Crossfit is different dependant on the weight and we have great Crossfit coaches that coach it in the WoD classes, but, saying that, we have noticed a massive improvement on efficiency in a Crossfit WoD for our members off the back focussing on proficiency in the single lifts.

So wether you want start from scratch, brush up, learn more or just come and have fun you are more than welcome.
If you want to know more please contact Kelly and I can chat more to you about how awesome weightlifting is!

Gymnastic Classes

Wouldn’t you love to have a bigger arsenal of cool gymnastic moves? Who wouldn’t want to have fantastic bridge, or do a back walk-over, or begin to master a backflip and have a rock solid handstand and Muscle Up?

These are the things we commit to teaching you as part of our gymnastics programme, which is for all fitness levels from absolute beginners to more advanced who wish to be taught in a class format.

We offer highly taught and structured sessions, and are careful to tailor progressions to your needs and abilities.

Our Gymnastic class will run every Wednesday at 6.30pm.

Solent Kids

Solent Kids programme was set up to promote wellbeing of children by pairing fitness together with fun and nutrition. We are also looking forward to achieving similar friendly community for children, just the way we have developed for our current members. We truly believe, that Crossfit for Kids will shape lives for children for the better by teaching them life skills by the means of fun exercise.

With this in mind, Vinnie and Alice will be starting once weekly session for kids aged 5-12. Each class will be an hour long which will be structured with warm up, skill work, work out of the day and finish off with a fun game!!!!!!!!!! We will be sending out a parent’s letter outlining some basic rules & regulations soon. We are hoping to incorporate regular nutritional support for both children and their families from some of my colleagues who work in nutrition.

If your keen to get your kids involved, please email: kids@crossfitsolent.co.uk for more information.

Solent Nutritional Coaching

“We are what we repeatedly do, then excellence is not an act, but a habit” – Aristotle.

Have you ever wondered why having more knowledge, does not necessarily lead to greater mastery ?

The naturally lean, and healthy, practise consistent positive nutritional habits, but do not necessarily have an abundance of nutrition knowledge.

This is the key to the nutrition system we follow.

We focus on the HOW, before the WHAT.

Focussing on one key habit at a time, we look to change your nutritional habits over the long term, to create a sustainable and enjoyable eating routine that works for you as an individual, and gives you the results you want.
As nutrition coaches, it is our role to guide you through the process of changing those habits, without judgement, with empathy, understanding, and patience.

No restrictive diets. Real food. Real change.

We work with our clients for three, six, or twelve month commitments to ensure the best results.

If you would like to know more, or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us for an obligation free consultation.

Sports Therapy at CrossFit Solent

Benefits of Sports Massage

Sports Massage applied skillfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help you prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments and tendons, as well as the muscles themselves. These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause discomfort or impede your performance. The Sports Massage Therapist will be able to detect variations in the soft tissues and by using the correct techniques, release tight bands of muscle, break down scar tissue and increase flexibility of the muscles.

Sports Massage will:

– Help recuperation after injury

– Release of muscle tension and pain

– Improved posture and flexibility

– Assists recovery between training sessions

– Remove waste products in the muscles

– Improves posture allowing the body to function more effectively

– Increased sense of well being

Who Can Benefit from Sports Massage:

Anyone who engages in physical activity for the purpose of sport or fitness – irrespective of age, level of fitness or level of training – can benefit. Anyone with injuries or problems that are inhibiting performance will find that the stimulatory effects of sports massage encourage the healing process. Recreational and competitive athletes following a regular training programme will benefit during recovery, and through the early detection of any problems arising from training stress. Athletes engaged in sporting events or competitions can benefit before, during and after the event, depending on whether the need is for the release of muscle tension, relief from soreness or relaxation.

Sports Massage Maintenance

An effective maintenance programme can help the athlete maintain or improve range of motion and muscle flexibility. The overall objective of such a programme is to help the athlete reach optimal performance through injury-free training.
