Simone Holley Crossfit Solent

Simone Holley

General Manager

Simone joined the coaching team in March 2019 after completing her internship. She discovered CrossFit at the age of 41, having paid little attention to her health and fitness until her 30s and quickly became hooked. Simone loves the constant variety and challenges that CrossFit offers – there is always something new to learn or improve upon. Now In her late 40s, CrossFit has made her stronger and fitter than she has ever been. Simone is passionate about looking after and valuing both your mental and physical health, having watched her mum lose these to severe mental illness. As a mum of two daughters, Simone has first hand experience of the factors that affect womens fitness and health, such as monthly hormonal cycles, pregnancy, and the menopause. Simone also has a PhD and research expertise in child and adolescent health psychology, which she continues through external academic work.

James Foad Crossfit Solent

James Foad

Coach

James rose from a local rower in Southampton, 200m from CrossFit Solent, to Olympic Bronze Medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Having been heavily involved in rowing since the age of 12, James reached the pinnacle of his sport, as well as being a 4x World Silver Medallist, European Champion and British Record Holder in the Mens’ Coxless Pair (stealing the title from Sir Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell).

After suffering a significant mental breakdown due to a career ending injury 6 months before the Rio Olympics, James is a huge advocate of Mental Health and the importance of using exercise to take care of ourselves and our minds.

One of the ways James overcome his mental health struggles was discovering his purpose. To pass on the wealth of knowledge gained from international sport and exercise to the wider world, through Personal Training. Having only been introduced to the world of CrossFit and its methodology in 2020, James has become hooked and like other coaches wants to get as many people as possible involved in the community.

Crossfit Solent Przemek Borak

Przemek Borak

Coach

I took part in hundreds of competitions and championships. In mid 90’s for 3 years I was a member of Polish Olympic Weightlifting Juniors Representation. In 1996, when I was 15 years old, I won my first silver medal in Youth Polish Championships. In 2016, after 16 years break in training, I decided to try Crossfit to get fitter and stronger. I realised that I still can achieve something in sport; weightlifting particularly.

In 2016 I took part in Southern Master Championships and won another trophy to my medals collection of 3 silver medals; another (but first British) silver medal. Then I decided to share my knowledge and experience with other weightlifters to help them to achieve their goals and I completed Level 1and then Level 2 British Weightlifting Coach course.

In 2017 in British Master Championships, I won another medal; this time it was a bronze. At the end of 2017 I have established Fareham Barbell Club and concentrated on training others. This brings me a lot of satisfaction especially when club members achieve great results at national and international championships.

Crossfit Solent Ethan Hammond

Ethan Hammond

Coach

Ethan has been doing CrossFit since 2014 and has been involved with coaching fitness since 2015 after becoming a Level 1 Crossfit Trainer. Prior to Crossfit, Ethan was a long-distance runner who lived with chronic injuries for years. Failing to accept that pain and injures are “just part of being a runner/athlete”, Ethan decided to pursue an education in physiology and biomechanics, which led him to have a strong focus on working with athletes to live pain-free lives. At the end of 2015, Ethan became a Yoga Tune Up® teacher and began work as a professional Performance Therapist, providing quality and premium care to people who have chronic pain and athletic injuries. He opened his own small business, E.H. Mobility, in 2016 and has since worked to rehab athletes after all sorts of problems, including spinal surgery, ACL tears, and muscle strains. So be sure to get in touch with him if you have any musculo-skeletal concerns!

Ethan is American (NOT Canadian) and lives in Southampton with his British wife, Debbi. Outside of the gym, Ethan is a coffee enthusiast, loves long walks on the beach with his wife, and enjoys listening to audiobooks in his free time.
